Or seen pictures like such:
Or heard phrases like:
"Cheer up emo kid!"
"I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself."
Now, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I'm a girl. I'm in my teen years. I go to a Catholic school. I've been an honor student since God knows when.

You may have pictured me like this:
But wait, that's not all there is to me.
I listen to metal, punk, alternative, and rock music. I headbang. I own black Converse. I've shopped at Hot Topic. I can name nearly every part that makes up a skateboard. And I write poetry.
Do I look like this to you now?
But wait! That's not all there is to me!
I also play sports. I can handstand. I have friends online and in real life. I love to hang out and to party.
So what am I now?
Point I'm trying to make is that don't immerse one thing because you think it will get you accepted. Accept yourself for who you are not what people want to see. Then everyone else will either accept you or reject you. But when you're that confident to have accepted yourself for who you are you will learn that not everyone will like you, but not everyone will hate you as well. All the things I said about myself are true. No matter how I dress like I'm still me. That's one thing you have to understand. We all go through our phases.
This is how I look at it. Your phases help you figure out who you want to be and what you're interested in. Don't try to fit into one.
Your clothes don't make you who you are. Simple.
It baffles me honestly how much people try to change themselves to be accepted by a group of people. Be yourself how hard is that?
Disclaimer: I just used the emo style because it's faddish right now. But i'm talking about all kinds of different things. Also I own NONE of the pictures EXCEPT the last FOUR.
Wanna see who I really am?
Point made yet?
